This is a romantic suspense novel from The Wild Rose Press– something right out of the headlines, with the threat of white supremacist cults in the Pacific Northwest and all they engender.
Here’s the story:
Caryn Orlane has law enforcement in her blood; her father was a cop, and his father, too. She’s a federal agent in northwest Montana, protecting the old forests and keeping the peace.
Levi Bradshaw also believes in protecting the forests, but has a very different MO. He’s the leader of a group of eco-warriors, determined to save the trees of the Bitterroot by legal—and illegal—means.
When they meet in the woods at gunpoint, their encounter ignites a spark of interest, despite operating on opposite sides of the law. When their worlds turn on them, they only grow closer. If they don’t work together, can either survive?
The dog on the cover is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and our hero Levi Bradshaw has two of them to protect his mountain property, as well as a wounded pointer he’s nursed back to health. Caryn Orlane has a pet, too, that travels with her in the RV where she makes her home–a green iguana.
All these animals play a part in the story, which was delightful for me to write (even though I’m a cat person!).

REVIEWS:
What stands out about Tender Misdemeanors is the authenticity Alana brings to romantic suspense through her decades of experience in family and divorce law. Rather than treating the legal world as simply a backdrop, her professional understanding gives the story’s conflicts, characters, and stakes a grounded quality that makes the danger and emotional tension feel particularly convincing.
Across the Pittsburgh Lady Lawyer series and titles such as Encounter, Second Chances, and Cruel Charade, she has built a distinctive space where sharp legal realities, complex relationships, and high-stakes suspense can exist naturally alongside romance. After more than four decades as a published writer, that combination of experience and versatility is remarkable.

If you are looking for an engaging, entertaining read, Tender Misdemeanors, by Alana Lorens, will not disappoint. The characters are likable and relatable without becoming a trope. They feel human with human problems, and they cross traditional gender lines in refreshing ways.
The plot moves along nicely and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t see a couple of twists coming. The setting is skillfully and realistically described; you can practically smell the pine trees as you read. Tender Misdemeanors is another fine effort to add to Ms. Lorens’ collection.

Alana Lorens storytelling keeps you turning pages, surprises you with unexpected twists and turns, and spins a tale you will remember long after reading it.
Her strong, cynical, female character will have you cheering her on through her many ups and downs, while you’ll be wishing her 100%-all-male hero was real and coming to sweep you off your feet.
